Jhanyn and Jicko: Announcing Their Growing Family
Jhanyn first reached out to me on Instagram after what she called a deep dive through photographer after photographer, searching for the right fit. She landed on my page, loved the vibe of my work, and knew she wanted updated family photos — with a special twist. She was ready to announce their third pregnancy.
Our shoot was originally booked for November, but unforeseen circumstances meant we had to postpone. I offered to point her toward other photographers who might be able to fit her in sooner, but she wasn't having it. She wanted me, no matter the wait.
By the time we rescheduled, it was January. Jhanyn and Jicko were about to head overseas to see family, and they still hadn't shared the pregnancy news — they were saving that moment for these very photos. Jhanyn was around 20 weeks along. After a month of warm, sunny days, the one we'd booked turned out grey, gloomy, and rainy.
But Jhanyn and Jicko weren't after a picture-perfect sky. They wanted something that captured what childhood should feel like: laughter, love, and plenty of ice cream. So we started at the ice cream shop — not my usual move, since I typically save that for the end of a session to avoid the mess, but this time it worked in our favour. It gave their girls a chance to warm up to me, set a playful tone, and made one thing clear from the start: no stiff poses, no forced smiles. Just following their girls' lead and celebrating a family about to grow.
From there, we drove out to Cattai, where Jhanyn and Jicko had pictured a garden cottage setting for the big reveal. The rain picked up as we arrived, but this family didn't mind getting a little wet. We wandered the cottage grounds with a doll pram in tow, revealed the news with a bunch of pink flowers — baby girl #3 — and wrapped up the session dancing, laughing, and spinning in the rain.
When Jhanyn saw her gallery, she was overjoyed:
"I'm so, so glad my deep dive stalking found you... stalking has never paid off more. We tried to narrow it down but we realised we were liking pretty much every photo — we need to upgrade."
Thank you so much Jhanyn and Jicko for allowing me to be apart of such a special milestone for your family.
